I had to review this shirt because you just never see such quality and detail any more. From the flat fell seams, front and back darts, small leather logo patch on shirt tail, perfect stitching: it's just beautifully made. It's a soft mid-weight flannel with a suede-like nap. I bought Forest and the color is true to the picture. I am 5'7, 165 and usually wear a large, but based on other reviews sized up to XL. Fits perfect through the body, a little longer than I usually wear in sleeves and shirt tail, but I do recommend sizing up. It has front and back darts, but is not closely fitted, just hangs straight without being too loose. I HIGHLY recommend this shirt as a gift - very impressive quality.

I will start by saying that I do NOT typically like flannel. I have not owned a flannel shirt since...high school when flannel/grunge was cool??? This shirt is great quality with great detail - the lining on the cuffs and collar really set it off! This is not a super heavy shirt, but rather a thin-ish (without feeling chintzy) shirt. Amazon recommended XS (based on previous clothing purchases), but it fit well (I am 5'8" and ~132lb, for reference). It had just enough stretch; the only place it was a bit snug was in the wrists - I have small wrists - so this was surprising. The sleeves were also a little short (I do have longer arms), so I opted to size up. The contrast material on the inner cuffs makes wearing them unbuttoned and rolled once appealing. I settled on the forest plaid, which compliments my dark hair and eyes. You will not regret this purchase!

I've never heard of this brand before, so I took a chance on it. I originally bought this to have a medium weight layer for day hiking, and it works well for that! It also works well for daily use. I wore it to go grocery shopping, and was very suitable.
I'm 5'5" 150lbs, 40-34-40 and bought a large. It is a little oversized on me, but I wanted it that way, I didn't want it to be tight fitting. No gapping. The length ends just below my butt, and the sleeves right below my wrist.
The chambray cuffs are a little rough, but they'll soften with washing.

There is no stretch in this shirt, and you cannot see through it. It feels like it's going to be a sturdy flannel shirt! I will probably buy another in another color, I like it so much.

The quality of this fabric is beautiful. It is 100% cotton but is not flimsy and has a nice weight and feel to it. It's also more woven than flannel (not like flannel pj's). For me, I will wear it outside of my jeans because of its length which comes to mid-hip. It would look great with leggings as well because of the length. I bought the medium. I am 5'-7", 132 lbs. The bust line is just right for me (36A, sometime B depending on mfg). A definite must for fall and winter!

I am 5‘6“, 115 pounds, 36/30/36. Ordered a medium but small was delivered. The sz. small gapes slightly at the bust - I’ll exchange for the medium due to reports of shrinking. The side seams are such that it can be easily taken in if needed so I’m sticking with my original request. Sleeves are plenty long for my long arms. Measurement ( sz small) from collar band/yoke seam in back to bottom hem is 27 inches. Long enough for leggings I think. Plaid matches well at the front, not at the sides. If you had 4H or Home-Ec sewing (I’m that old) this will bug us but to be expected at this price. This seems to be a nice weight, quality flannel. I like it well enough to order another color - or may go for LL Bean’s signature chamois plaid tunic.

My wife loves this shirt. It is difficult to find good quality women's flannel shirts. And men's shirts usually don't fit women that well. Legendary Whitetails generally has good quality merchandise (for having been made in India or China) but they are usually so overpriced that we pass them up -- both women's and men's. But the Legendary Whitetails Women's Cottage Escape Flannel Shirt was on sale and it was a good buy. Good fit, decent quality, washes up nicely (we wash in cold or warm and drip dry most things like this). Limited choice at this reduced price, but highly recommended by the boss. Hope this helps!

Initial Impression: The quality of these is fantastic.

Feel: They are super soft and feel thick and durable. I like to wear them on really cold days with a snug fitting, color coordinating t-shirt underneath.

Color: I love the color options available. I especially like the ones with the teal shades and the holiday colors.

Sizing: I normally wear small, bought the medium, and it was too big. I like a little loose fit, but it was too loose. For me the normal size would have been fine and left some extra room still.

Laundering: However, the small was gone, so I steam washed it in the washing machine and dried it, and then it was perfect. Since then I wash this shirt on a delicate cold cycle and hang it to dry.

Design: The only thing I don't care for are the pockets. They seem unnecessary. For a couple of the designs I think they are actually distracting and draw too much attention to the area. They sat a little high up but not awkwardly too high. The shirt would be perfect if it was just the shirt and nothing else.

Price: I loved the fit and warmth, though, so I kept the first one which I got for about $30. I bought another one when it went on sale for Black Friday for about $20. I won't buy any more unless they go on sale or they stop making them with the pockets. Everything else about these is great, though!

This seems like a nice flannel shirt. However, I normally wear a size medium and sometimes a size small in tops. This shirt is very small for a size medium in that it cinches in at the waist. If you have a small waist or a small waist and bust, a medium might fit you. Otherwise I would suggest sizing up one size. Just to note, the sleeve length in a size medium are just fine, coming down to just below my wrists. And the length on me is sort of tunic length (definitely 'tuckable'), but I'm not quite 5" 4". I'm exchanging it for a size large.

For reference I bought the Forest Plaid color which is definitely a red, black and grey color combo. I had read reviews saying this shirt ran big so I bought size XL. I'm normally between XL and XXL in shirts depending on how they run. I was so disappointed to get this shirt and realize I should have gotten the XXL. Maybe the sizes run different for each color but it doesn't run big at all. In fact, I would say it runs small for anyone with a bigger chest. I'm size 40D and I could not get this shirt close to button at all. I plan to still wear it open but it definitely looks more snug than I wanted it to.

These run very small- size up one size if you hang dry. Size up two sizes if you machine dry.

I ordered two shirts in Large. I typically wear a Medium, sometimes small in tops, but followed reviewer advice. I’m 160lbs, 36C in the chest, hip/leg heavy, very athletic. One of the shirts (the one that came with company tags) fits almost perfect out of the bag. Little tight across the back if I reach forward but buttons up all the way no problem, with a couple inches to spare in the midsection. Lovely fit and shape to the shirt.

The other shirt I ordered (same style, size- different color) smelled heavily of fabric softener, had no tags, and didn’t have tissue paper folded into it like the first one did. I put it on and it fit like a Small or XS. Took it off and double checked label- yup, large. Someone washed this hot in scented detergent, it shrank, they returned it, and it was resold without any company tags… what the heck. I’ll return this one and have noted NOT to wash the other one in hot and to only hang dry.

In short- order at LEAST one size up and two if you plan to throw it in the dryer. This is literally one of like three items I own in my entire closet that’s a size L.

I think 'Legendary Whitetail's' is a U.S. company that like many U.S. companies has its products produced in Asia (in this case Cambodia) to save money. Overseas unregulated sizing is the reason so many people have problems trusting that what they buy over the Internet is going to fit. Although the U.S. does not manufacture most (96%) of their clothing, at least when shopping at a brick and mortar store the customer can try the clothing item on before purchasing it. I've purchased numerous flannel shirts from many different high-dollar brands and never had a problem with sizing. I generally buy a 'L', but decided on an 'XL' just in case. As an 'XL' this shirt was still way too small. The buttons on the shirt were bulging when I buttoned it, but they would have pulled and looked sloppy anyways because there are not enough of them. Buttons running down the front of a shirt should be placed no more than every 3" so that the front lays smooth and not pucker. I will give kudos on the softness of the flannel though. Amazon's 'Try Before You Buy' policy does not help me much. I do not send items back for a refund for the most part because I live over an hours drive to the closest major city that has an UPS or FedEx for return shipping. It is not worth my time, gas, or the wear and tear on my car to drive that far away for $30.

The fabric quality is great, very soft and comfortable, with really nice buttons. But the workmanship on the back is why I am returning this. The plaids are crooked where the yoke attaches to the body of the back. Too bad, because I really like the color too. Just FYI, I am petite, 5' 2", and the shirt is quite long. Not a bad thing, just wanted to mention it. Also, it's just a little snug in the chest. Not enough to order a bigger size. But it's a more tapered cut, which I like. It's not a big roomy lumberjack kind of flannel!

I love, I mean LOVE, my Patagonia Fjord flannel shirt. It is cut for my curvy figure, nice colors, and most of all it's WARM (9+oz flannel). It provides the warmth of a sweatshirt with a totally different look that also lets me layer (warmer days I wear over a tee, cooler days I wear under a vest). However, I do not love the price tag of Patagonia.
I wanted a couple more flannels so I thought I would give this Legendary Whitetails a try. I am 5'5" 125 34D. I got a small in the pretty pumpkin-y color

Pros:

shoulders fit well - nice and fitted, not "oversized"
reasonably contoured (nips in somewhat at the waist)
doesn't look "baggy"

Cons:
Too tight across the chest. but if I go up to a M then I fear it otherwise will look like a potato sack
Flannel is too thin (I'm guessing 7+ oz flannel?). This definitely does NOT replace a sweatshirt. So, if I'm in my house in the wintertime and I'm saving energy by not blasting the heater, I will be too cold unless I wear longjohns under it, even with a vest.
It says "Legendary" across the back. whaaattt?

I think the result is that instead of purchasing a couple of these, I will purchase one other patagonia Fjord. Maybe REI will have a sale....

Good weight flannel for people that actually live in cold climates. But why the heck do these shirts shrink so much!!!????The sleeves were perfect until I washed it. I washed in cool and dried on a low setting. I bought a large when I am normally a medium. I am glad I did! If you buy a medium it will shrink to a small. if you buy a large it will shrink to a medium.

I thought buying my regular size would work even though reviewers said the shirts shrink in the wash. I’m not a hunter, but I spend a lot of time outdoors, and my house is freezing cold too, so warmth and functionality is very important to me in clothing, and I like to look halfway decent too. If a garment fits my criteria, I’m willing to pay more in order to get quality that will stand the test of time. This shirt fails all of my criteria. It is not worth even 1% of it’s price, as it fell apart after 1 use.

Before wearing it, I washed it on a cold cycle and hung it on a drying rack to dry. the very first time I wore it, the seam on the sleeve split about 4 inches , 1 inch from the wrist. The seam allowance is so small, I wouldn’t be able to repair it with my sewing machine. I’m not sure even a serger would help, as the fabric is extremely frayed- there woukd be nothing to stitch into without causing a weird pucker, or taking apart the entire sleeve and starting over.

In addition to the poor quality, the cut of this shirt is very odd. It is very long, but is not at all tailored or gusseted, so if you don’t tuck it in, the proportions look very odd. It’s neither a feminine, fitted look nor an over-sized menswear look. Just sort of a long, unflattering plaid tube.

Additionally, the flannel is on the thin side and not very soft. The brand name is embroidered quite conspicuously across the back shoulders- I didn’t see this in pictures prior to purchasing, or I wouldn’t have bought it. I hate wearing clothes with the brand name advertised on it, and given the fact that the shirt looks awful and has a giant hole in it, you’d think Legendary Whitetails wouldn’t want to advertise their brand on it, either.

I do love the color of the plaid. The color of the plaid and the 30 mile drive to a ups store for a return are the only reasons I kept this shirt when I first got the package. if I’d have known it would fall apart immediately, I would have driven the 30 miles to return it. Very unhappy.

The shirt look/feels high quality at first but the cut is terrible. The hem tapers out dramatically so it looks makes the bottom of the shirt looked bell shaped, borderline maternity shirt (tight at top and flowy/wide at bottom). While going about my day, I noticed it bunches up over my chest; I have to constantly tug at the hem to make the shirt sit normal. I'm a 36C and the shirt is a Medium; this wouldn't happen if it was a properly cut shirt. Next, the lines in the front and the back of the shirt don't line up at the seams. Not even close. Don't bother with this shirt.

I just receives this shirt. It looked good until I held it up and could see the TV through the fabric. Really! That's crazy. You buy flannel for warmth. This does nothing to keep you warm. This it's going right back and I'm canceling the coat I bought.
